Ah! Grande Tio Markl!

Fui ver o blog do meu querido übergeek português e que é que eu encontro? Nada mais nada menos que um artiguinho sobre os fantásticos Beta Band! Pois é, tio Markl, eles são os maiores e tu andas sempre na vanguarda do que há de bom e de melhor! Mas o melhor de tudo e o que se calhar ainda não sabes é que eles estão de volta. Eles, é como quem diz... De acordo com o que li no NME do dia 13 deste mês, dois ex-Betas juntaram-se e fizeram uma nova banda de seu nome The Aliens e lançaram recentemente "Alienoid Starmonica EP". O mais interessante é que Gordon Anderson, o géniozinho maquiavélico responsável por ter co-escrito algumas das melhores canções dos Beta, está de volta e em força! Farei agora uma tradução livre do artigo da melhor forma que sei, imprimindo-lhe um certo cunho pessoal. Ao que parece, o álbum é pura e simplesmente fabuloso.

"Hey Leanne" autosintoniza-se após dois minutos de sons esquizóides. Os cães ladram e os grilos cantam ao som de guitarradas de contornos sulistas. É o delírio. É a loucura. É o som de Neil Young a caminhar na Àrea 51. Os sons alienígenas prosseguem desregradamente até ao começo de "Only Waiting", ou seja, o mais próximo que alguma vez o indie vai estar do Twista-raps. Segue-se o vórtex vertiginoso de diskunk (disco + funk) de "Robot Man" que começa como se Quincy Jones tivesse tropeçado num caleidoscópio cheio de sorvete e àcido e termina com qualquer coisa como terminaria se os Betas tivessem a bordo Ben Folds, Prince e Beck. Por fim, "Ionas (Look For Space)" remata com chave de ouro, trata-se de um tema acoustico epicósmico (épico + cósmico) que anuncia o seu regresso ao planeta Génio.

Nada de remixes drill n' bass, nada de 'intrumentais', nada de telediscos sem sentido, neste EP apenas podem encontrar quatro magnificas faixas! É de aproveitar meninos e meninas que hoje em dia já é raro encontrar EPs assim. Já não os fazem como antes! Quanto a mim estou augada pela próxima visita dos aliens. Já dizia o poster do Mulder...
